Generation 2

REBECCA JOHNSON (d. 1754)

Parents: Timothy Johnson and Rebecca Aslett

There is no birth record for a Rebecca Johnson who could have married Joseph. There is a Rebecca, daughter of John and Sarah Johnson, whose 1670 birth in Haverhill is recorded in Andover. But, she died in 1688/9. There is a Rebecca who was baptised in 1680 in Roxbury, but she seems geographically unlikely. Timothy and Rebecca Johnson married at the end of 1674 and their first recorded child is in June of 1677; they could have had an unrecorded child before then. She would be the right age and the name makes sense. She would also have had a younger sister Penelope who was killed by the Indians in 1698. Her unknown son born in 1702 may have been Timothy Ballard of Andover. Johnson [Ref] says that she is mentioned in the 1727 will of her brother Samuel, but I have not seen this.

Rebecca Johnson died on 22 Jan 1754. [Ref] She married Ens. Joseph Ballard on 17 Aug 1698 in Andover. [Ref]
