ARCHIBALD EDMONSTON (d. 1734)

Archibald Edmonston married Jane Jane Beall. [Ref, p. 4]

Archibald Edmonston of Prince George's County conved a tract of land called Edmonston's Pastures to his son-in-law William Smith. [Ref, p. 4]

Archibald Edmonston of Prince George's county signed his will on 13 Mar 1734. It was probated on 28 Jun 1734. [Ref] He left his son James his clothes; his daughters Mary and Eleanor Offcut each ten pounds; his son Archibald Edmonston 20 shillings and his cane; his daughter Martha Allen his dwelling plantation and the land belonging to it after the death of his wife Jane; his son-in-law Thomas Allen 200 acres; his daughter Allenn "one Negro Man named Sam", a feather bed and furniture; his granddaughter Jane Allen one pound and five shillings to pay for a year's schooling; his son Thomas Edmonston land, a mulatto man named John or Jock and a "Negroe Girl nam'd Delle". To his "Dear and Loving wife Jane" he left seven slaves. The remainder of his estate was divided between Thomas and Jane. He mentions that Thomas was under 17 and asks James to inspect his behaviour and deportment.[Ref]

Jane Edmonston was probably dead by 1734, when her father wrote his will and did not mention her. [Ref] She married William Smith. [Ref]

Evidence that Jane married William Smith comes from a deed of gift to William Smith, named as a son in law, from Archibald and Jane Edmonston. [Ref]
