Martha was heiress to property in Shiplake. [Ref]

The widow Martha Wilder of Shiplock, Oxfordshire came to New England on the Confidence in 1638, bringing her daughter Mary. [Ref][Ref] The widow Wilder was granted land in Hingham in 1638. [Ref][Ref]

Note: There is a Thomas Wilder who died in Lancaster [Ref] on 23 Oct 1667. [Ref, p. 13] He was a resident of Charlestown in 1640. [Ref] He went to Lancaster as early as 1659. [Ref] A cenotaph in the Old Common Burial Ground in Lancaster says: SACRED/to the Memory of/THOMAS WILDER/ from Lancaster in England/who first settled at Hingham/in 1641 and came to this town/July 1, 1659 and died Oct. 23/1667 leaving three sons -- viz/THOMAS, JOHN and NATHANIEL/from whom are derived all of the name of Wilder/in this Town and vicinity. [Ref, p. 408] It has long been claimed that Thomas was a brother of Edward Wilder, son of Thomas Wilder of Shiplake. But, a recent DNA study [Ref] confirms that, "Not only were Thomas and Edward not brothers, their kinship is too distant to calculate in any genealogical timeframe."
