Thomas Vose's father may be John Vauce, a tenant of the Norris family in 1566, but there is no proof. [Ref]

THOMAS VOSE (d. 1641) of Garston

Thomas Vose, yeoman of Garston, died between 23 Feb 1640, when he signed his will, and 29 Apr 1641, when it was proved. [Ref] He married first Margery Unknown. [Ref] He married second Anne Unknown. [Ref]
Thomas's brother George left him his buckskin britches in his will. [Ref]
On 11 Dec 1599 Edward Norris of Speke, Esq. formally agreed to lease property to Thomas Vose, husbandman of of Garston and Margery, his wife. [Ref] On 1 Mar 1619/20, Sir William Norris, the son of Edward, sold to Thomas Vose of Garson, yeoman, and Edward Vose, Thomas's son and heir apparent, a messuage in Little Wolton for five pounds. [Ref]
In his will, Thomas mentions his wife Anne, his sons Robert and John, and Robert's children William, Edward, Elizabeth and Thomas. [Ref]

ROBERT VOSE (abt 1599 - 1683) of Garston and Dorchester

Robert Vose was born about 1599. He died on 16 Oct 1683, at age 84, in Dorchester. [Ref gives the date and place][Ref gives the year and age] He married Jane Moss in Chidwall, a parish bordering Garston, after 25 Jul 1629, when their license is dated. [Ref] Jane died in Oct 1675 in Milton. [Ref]
Thomas Vose of Garston and his son and heir Robert signed, with their marks, a deed on 10 Jul 1626. [Ref] In 1650, Robert Vose of Cronton, gentleman, and John Vose of Garston, were on a jury examining the condition of local parishes. The jury reported on the Prescot parish. [Ref]
Robert Vose first appears in the New England records when, as a gentleman of Dorchester, he purchased his a 500-acre farm in Milton from the heirs of John Glover for £380 on 13 Jul 1654. [Ref][Ref] John Glover has come from Prescot parish in Lancashire. [Ref]
On 20 Feb 1662, Robert signed a deed giving his son Edward his farm; Edward had agreed to maintain him for life. [Ref] On 23 Feb 1663, Mr. Vose signed a deed formalising a 1659 gift of 19-3/4 acres to his son-in-law Thomas Swift. [Ref]
Robert is in the Milton section of the 23 May 1666 list of freemen. [Ref]
In 1668 Robert's brother John testified in a property dispute that he believed Roberts' sons William and Edward were alive as he had heard a year before that they were living in New England. He also testified that his parents Thomas and Margery had died 20 or more years ago. [Ref]
On 1 Jun 1681, Robert was received into full communion in the church in Milton, the first member after the ordination of Rev. Peter Thatcher. [Ref]
In his will of 10 Sep 1683, Robert mentions his sons Edward and Thomas and his daughter Martha Buckminster. [Ref]

EDWARD VOSE (abt 1636 - 1716) of Dorchester, Block Island and Milton

Edward Vose was born about 1636. He died on 29 Jan 1716, age 80. [Ref] He married Abigail Sharpe. [Ref][Ref]
Edward was an original settler of Block Island, but returned to Dorchester. [Ref gives only her father's name]
On 2 Oct 1681 Sister Vose, wife of Edward Vose, was admitted to full communion at the church in Milton by virtue of a letter of dismissal from the church in Dorchester. [Ref]
