HANNAH PONTUS (d. 1690)

Parents: William Pontus and Wybra Hansen

Hannah Pontus died on 22 Dec 1690. She married first John Churchill on 18 Dec 1644 in Plymouth. [Ref] She married second, as his third wife, Giles Rickard, Jr. on 25 Jun 1669 in Plymouth. [Ref][Ref] Giles Rickard died on 12 Dec 1690. [Ref] He married first Judith, the sister of Frances Cogan, as her second husband on 7 Jan 1623/4 in West Hatch, co. Somerset. [Ref] He married second Joan Tilson on 20 May 1662. [Ref] He was a weaver. [Ref]

John Dunham, who witnessed Hannah's father's will testified that he heard William say that he gave his son-in-law John Churchill and Hannah his wife one half of his meadow at the watering place; his daughter Mary Glass consented. [Ref]

Hannah's inventory mentions her children Joseph, Eleazer, John, William and Henry Churchill, her son-in-law John Drew and her Doty grandchildren. [Ref]

WILLIAM PONTUS of Leiden and Plymouth

William Pontus died on 2 Feb 1652/3 in Plymouth. [Ref] He married Wybra Hanson on 4 Dec 1610 in Leiden. [Ref]

William signed his will on 9 Sep 1650; inventory on his estate was taken on Feb 1652 and amounted to £12.17. [Ref]

  1. Mary Pontus died after 3 Sep 1652. She married James Glass. He died on 3 Sep 1652. [Ref] Her father left his house to his eldest daughter Mary. He names his son-in-law James Glass in his will. [Ref]
  2. Hannah Pontus died on 22 Dec 1690. She married first John Churchill. She married second Giles Rickard, Jr.
