The Pequot War was fought between the European settlers and their Indian allies, the Narragansett and Mohegan tribes, and the Pequot tribe. The war nearly destroyed the Pequots and was notable for John Mason's massacre of hundreds of Pequots -- mostly women and children -- at Mystic.
