John H. Sybert, Sr. died intestate in Lincoln City, GA in Jan 1825. [Ref] His son John H. Sybert, Jr. applied for administration of his estate on 15 Jan 1825. [Ref] John Jr. gave bond on 7 Mar. [Ref] Inventory was presented in court on 21 Mar and sold at auction on 21 May. [Ref] Among the buyers were John H., his brother Frederick and his sisters Susan and Margaret. [Ref]

Beeson [Ref, p. 3] includes the following: "The Revolutionary Records of the State of Georgia, Vol. II by Allen D. Candler, page 364-5 shows the following: 'In Council Savannah 21st August 1782.

The petition of John Sebert being read and considered. Therefore ordered, that Col. James Jackson be directed to furnish the said Sebert with his pay and discharge agreeable to the terms of his enlistment.'"

This John Sibert appears to have at least four children, three of whom were attributed by Beeson [Ref, p. 4] to our John David:

  1. John H. Sybert, Jr. was born about 1798, based on the 1850 census. [Ref, p. 355] He died in Lincoln county before 19 Mar 1860, [Ref, p. 4] when his will was probated. [Ref] He married Margaret ("Peggy") Wellmaker on 21 Feb 1828 [Ref] in Wilkes county, Georgia. Margaret was born in Georgia by about 1808, based on the 1850 census.
    John left half his estate to his wife and half to the children of his sister Susan and of his brother Frederick. [Ref]
    Beeson says that John had a wife named Margaret; had no children and left his large estate to the children of his brother Frederick and his sister Susan. [Ref, p. 4]
    In 1830 John H. lived in District 185, Lincoln, Georgia. His household consisted of a man aged 30 - 40 and a woman aged 20 - 30. [Ref] In 1850 John H., age 52, was a planter in District 52, Lincoln. He had real estate worth $1,400. He was born in Georgia. Margaret was 42 and could not read and write. [Ref] In 1860 Margaret was 50 years old and a fairly wealthy widow with real estate worth $2,500 and a personal estate of $25,000. [Ref] She owned 16 slaves. (Slave schedule)
    In the settlement of John Wellmaker's estate, Felix Wellmaker, the administrator, paid Elizabeth Wellmaker, Henry Shank, John H. Sybert, John and Israel Wellmaker $250.00 each and retained $250.00 for his own share. Felix was appointed guardian of Peter and Elias Wellmaker, orphans of John. John had died on 1 Mar 1830.   2. Frederick Sybert [Ref, p. 4] was born about 1802 in Georgia. [Ref] He died of pneumonia in Oct 1850, age 48, in Morgan county, Alabama. [Ref] He married Rebecca Wade on 22 Jan 1821 in Warren county, Georgia. [Ref] Rebecca was born about 1801 in Georgia and was living in Morgan county 1860. [Ref] He had seven children. [Ref]
    Frederick was a farmer. [Ref]
    By a 1 Aug 1839 record, Frederick Sybert of Morgan county bought 40 acres of land in Morgan county. [Ref] In 1840 Frederick headed a household in Regiment 39 in Morgan county consisting of a man and woman, each age 30 - 39, two boys age 15 - 19, two boys and two girls age 10 - 14 and one boy and three girls under five. [Ref]
    By a 1 Mar 1858 record, Rebecca Sybert of Morgan county bought 120 acres. [Ref]
  3. Susan Sybert married Unknown Crooks and had several children. [Ref, p. 4] She had nine children. [Ref]
  4. Margaret Sybert was born after 1790.
