James Jackman was born about 1611/8. He died on 30 Dec 1694 in Newbury, [Ref] at age 83. [Ref, p. 306] He married Joanna Unknown. [Ref, p. 306] He was a nephew of Henry Short. [Ref, p. 306]
It is said that he is from Exeter, Devonshire. [Ref, p. 306]
He took the Oath of Allegiance in Newbury in 1678 at age 60. [Ref]

On 13 Jul 1707 James Jackman, Sr. commanded about twenty soldiers [presumably in Newbury]. [Ref]
