ROBERT HIBBERT (d. 1684) of Salem and Beverly

Parents:

Hibbard [Ref, p. 11] says that Robert was baptised on 13 Mar 1613 in Salisbury. [Ref, p. 12] He died between 9 Apr 1684 and 4 Jun 1684.

Robert Hibbert married Joanna Unknown. [Ref, p. 11]

Robert and Joanna were admitted to communion in the first church of Salem on 3 May 1646. [Ref, p. 12] Robert Hibbert of Salem was made a freeman on 6 (5) 1647. [Ref]

By a 30 Apr 1659 deed, Robert Hibbard, bricklayer of Salem, bought 13 acres of upland in Salem from William Hascoll. [Ref, p. 13] By an 18 Nov 1664 deed, he bought a parcel of land on Cape Ann. [Ref, p. 14]

Robert Hibbert of signed his will on 1 Apr 1684. [Ref, p. 14] In it, he mentions his wife Joanne; his sons John, Robert, Joseph and Samuel; unnamed daughters. [Ref, p. 14] His will was proved on 24 Jun 1684. [Ref, p. 15] Inventory was taken on his estate on 4 Jun 1684; it amounted to £281. [Ref, p. 12]

JOSEPH HIBBERT (bp. 1648 - 1701) of Beverly

Parents: Robert Hibbert and Joanna Unknown [Ref, p. 12]

Joseph Hibbert was baptised on 7 Mar 1648 in Salem. [Ref, p. 12] He died on 14 May 1701 in Beverly. [Ref] He married Elizabeth Graves on 20 Oct 1670. [Ref]

Joseph was a yeoman farmer. [Ref, p. 17]

In his will, dated 19 Apr 1701, Joseph mentions his wife Elizabeth, his eldest son Jeremiah; his son Joseph; his daughters Bridget, Rebecca and Elizabeth. [Ref, p. 18] He does not mention his married daughters.

On 21 Apr 1721, the following heirs of Joseph Hibbard, late of Boston, yeoman, agreed to release their rights to Hibbert property in Beverly: Nathaniel Abbott and his wife Dorcas; Matthew Coy of Wenham and his wife Bridget; Benjamin Haskell of Gloucester and his wife Elizabeth; Jeremiah Hibbert of Manchester and his wife Elizabeth. [Ref, p. 18]

  1. Mary Hibbert was born about 1674. [Ref, p. 17] She married Daniel Collins on 12 May 1692. [Ref, p. 17]
  2. Joanna Hibbert was born in 1676. [Ref, p. 17] She died on 14 Oct 1678. [Ref, p. 17]
  3. Dorcas Hibbert was baptised on 19 Jun 1692. She died on 7 Feb 1742/3. She married Nathaniel Abbott.
  4. Jeremiah Hibbert was born on 9 Aug 1683 in Beverly. [Ref, p. 17,23] He was baptised on 17 Jul 1692. [Ref, p. 17] He died in May 1743 in Manchester. [Ref, p. 23] He married first Mary Derby on 2 Mar 1704. [Ref, p. 17] He married second Hannah Leach on 28 Sep 1719. [Ref, p. 23]
  5. Sarah Hibbert was baptised on 17 Jul 1692. [Ref, p. 17] She died before 1701. [Ref, p. 17]
  6. Bridget Hibbert was born on 11 May 1687. [Ref, p. 17] married Matthew Coy in 1711. [Ref, p. 17]

Dorcas Hibbert [Ref, 136;312] was baptised on 19 Jun 1692. [Ref, p. 17][Ref gives only the year] Dorcas, the wife of Lt. Nathaniel, died on 16 Feb 1742/3 in Andover. [Ref] She married Nathaniel Abbott [Ref, 136;312] on 22 Oct 1695 in Andover. [Ref][Ref][Ref]
