Generation 1

STEPHEN DEANE

Stephen Deane came to New England on the Fortune in 1621. [Ref] He built the first corn mill in New England in 1632. [Ref] He married Elizabeth, the daughter of the widow Mary Ring. [Ref] She died by 3 May 1687 in Eastham, when inventory was taken on her estate. [Ref] She married second Josiah Cook on 16 Sep 1635. [Ref]

In her will, dated 1633, Mary Ring left a bequest to her daughter Elizabeth, the wife of Stephen Deane. [Ref] It is not known if Elizabeth is Elizabeth Ring or the daughter of a previous husband of Mary Ring.

Children of Stephen Deane and Elizabeth Unknown:

1. Elizabeth Deane [Ref] married William Twining. [Ref]
2. Miriam Deane [Ref] died between 24 May 1701 and 14 Jan 1702/3.
   Miriam was unmarried in 1669. [Ref]
   Miriam appears to be the Miriam Wing who left her estate to her kinsman Deane Smith, son of her kinswoman Bethiah [Snow] Smith of Monomoit. [Ref, 2;124] The estate of Miriam Wing, widow of John Wing and late of Harwich, was granted to her kinsman Dean Smith, son of John Smith of Manamoit on 14 Jan 1702/3. [Ref, 2;122]
3. Susanna Deane married Stephen Snow.

SUSANNA DEANE

Parents: Stephen Deane and Elizabeth Unknown . [Ref, p. 11][Ref]

Susanna Deane married first Joseph Rogerson 4 Apr 1660 in Eastham. [Ref][Ref says 4 Feb] She married second Stephen Snow [Ref, p. 11] on 13 Dec 1665 in Eastham. [Ref, 6;13]
