  2. Capt. Daniel Sears was born on 1 Jun 1712 in Chatham. [MVRC, 4;201, s. Daniel and Sarah][DRSY, p. 60] Capt. Daniel Sears died on 10 Feb 1761, age 49, in Chatham. [OBGC, 8;239][DRSY, p. 96] He is buried in the Oldest Burying Ground in Chatham. [OBGC, 8;239] He married Fear Freeman. [OBGC, 8;239] Fear was the daughter of Benjamin and Temperance (Dimmick) of Harwich. [DRSY, p. 96] She was born on 23 Mar 1721/2. [DRSY, p. 96] She died in 1808 in Boston, age 86. [DRSY, p. 96] She married second as his second wife Samuel Ballard of Boston on 1 Nov 1763. [DRSY, p. 96]
    Daniel lived in Chatham. [DRSY, p. 96] He was coroner in 1751. [DRSY, p. 96] He was town treasurer and town clerk 1733 to 1754. [DRSY, p. 96] He was a selectman in 1756 and 1757. [DRSY, p. 96] He was judged "non compos" on 10 Feb 1758 and his wife Fear was appointed his guardian. [DRSY, p. 96]

  4. Mercy Sears was born 17 Jul 1716 in Chatham. [MVRC, 4;201, d. Daniel and Sarah][DRSY, p. 61] She died on 23 Dec 1765. [DRSY, p. 61] She married Stephen Ryder. [DRSY, p. 61] He died on 18 Jan 1766. [DRSY, p. 61]
    Mercy, Stephen and nine of their ten children died of small pox, imported in a package of clothing sent from the West Indies and washed in their house. [DRSY, p. 61]
