BENJAMIN ALBIE of Braintree, Medfield and Swansea
Parents: Unknown
Little is known about Benjamin Albie. The birth records of his children say that their mother is named Hannah.
Benjamin was in Braintree in 1641. [Ref] He was a freeman on 18 May 1642. [Ref][Ref] He witnessed the will of Henry Adams of Braintree in 1646. [Ref] On 22 (7) 1650 Benjamin and Henry Adams (presumably the son of the previously named Henry) inventoried the estate of John Sheppard of Braintree. [Ref 8;58]
Benjamin was granted 138 acres in the East Section in Medfield in 1650. [Ref] He may have been of Mendon or Swansea in 1669, most probably the former. [Ref]
A brother Albee was one of the seven founding members of the Swansea Baptist church on 20 Jan 1666/7. He appears in the records in the early 1670s and both a Benjamin Albee and a Hannah Albee are on a list that appears to be from 1675. [Ref]
Children of Benjamin Albie and Hannah Unknown:
Second Generation
Parents: Benjamin Albie and Hannah Unknown
Prudence Albie married Thomas Barnes 1 on 16 May 1666 in Medfield. [Ref] She died before 12 Nov 1694, when her husband remarried.
The evidence that James, John and Prudence are the children of Benjamin is circumstantial.
